Announcing Our First Name Transliteration Book: A Special Offer for Early Adopters

We’ve just published our first comprehensive name transliteration book titled How Do I Transliterate Thee, John? Let Me Count a Thousand Ways: Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Transliterations. It’s not perfect, and we’re already working on an update. However, if you purchase it now and provide proof of purchase later, we’ll send you the updated version for free as a thank-you for being an early adopter.

Below is the book description:

Throughout Chinese history, the name John has been transliterated in many ways, and even today, new transliterations are still being created. So, which one is the best for you? Are there other ways John can be transliterated? Let’s find out together.

This book includes a thousand ways the name John can be transliterated into Chinese, as well as the Japanese and Korean transliterations. I provide a brief history behind some of these transliterations. The book is designed to be easy to understand, even for beginners, and no prior knowledge of Chinese is required. I've carefully explained the meanings of each character for every name, so you can confidently choose the perfect one.

Whether you’re learning on your own or in a classroom, this book is designed to support you. I’ve included generous margins and note pages for your reflections. Each transliteration is printed in large outline characters, doubling as coloring pages or calligraphy practice sheets, so you can truly make this journey your own.

I have many ideas for this type of book. My goal is to streamline the process so that instead of taking two weeks to complete a book, I’ll be able to do it in one week—and perhaps by next year, I’ll be able to produce one book a day. I’m aiming to create at least 100 books for 100 different names.

This book isn’t just for those named John; it also makes a great gift for a friend named John. Plus, it’s perfect for jotting down your thoughts on the personalities of all the Johns you know and which transliteration suits them best.
